The team of three women sea kayakers departed on the 1600 km adventure from Dun Laoghaire on July 16th. The adventure will take them clockwise along the challenging coastline of Ireland for six weeks. This is the first team representing Norway to take on this challenge.

The trip will not only be physically challenging but mentally challenging as well. There has been a great deal of planning and preparation for this adventure. With the ever changing conditions of the Irish Coastline, state of the seas, tides and weather, there will be a lot to consider each day. It will take skill, tactics and spot on team work for this to be a successful mission.

“After a long winter of planning and preparations I can’t wait for a summer filled with challenges and excitement.” - Ashley Williams

Motivations for their trip are to explore, discover and enjoy the coastline of Ireland. Meeting local people, discovering local cultures and getting close to the ever changing elements. They look forward to the freedom of living each day as it comes and the sensation of achievement as every day passes.

“I can’t imagine a better way of spending time than exploring new places together with great folks, and I’m really looking forward to all those funny moments and challenging situations that I’m sure will make every day of this trip interesting and exciting.” - Frida Halvorsen

Being an all-women team, they would like to use this opportunity to represent women in the sport; not only taking on the challenges, but raising awareness of the possibilities. They hope to inspire new people to start kayaking and becoming active by sharing motivation, determination and passion for the outdoors.

“I never imagined I would be involved in an adventure like this, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to spend my whole summer paddling with my favorite people.” - Vibeke Steinvåg

In connection with their trip they will be raising money for a children’s cancer charity ‘Barnekreftforeningen’.
