James Roberts

Age: website
HOMETOWN: Parry Sound, ON, Canada

When James isn’t running Ontario Sea Kayak Centre in Parry Sound, he can be found guiding kayaking trips around the world.

James is a do-it-all kayaker; he is a Paddle Canada senior instructor trainer and an SKGABC certified guide. While he is not on the water, James is on the Paddle Canada board of directors and marketing committee. He loves kayaking in the surf and is also passionate about traditional Inuit skills. His passion has led him to build numerous skin-on-frames and co-founded Canada’s only traditional paddling event - Ontario Greenland Camp.

James went to Greenland during the summer of 2014 to explore the culture and compete in the Greenland National kayak championships. He filmed the adventure, creating a documentary “Greenland Bound – A Paddlers Pilgrimage” about the history and culture of Greenland and the National Qajaq Championships, which won three film festival awards.

James has been guiding and instructing kayaking professionally since 2006 and is happiest surfing, rolling or guiding all over the world in sea kayaks.
