I have been fortunate to test out the new Kokatat Supernova Angler made with GORE-TEX® for a few months now. I was able to fish with it on the latest episode of Hooked on Wild Waters in the North Carolina mountains, and was able to use it in sub 32 degree temps in the snow while fishing for steelhead in northeast Ohio. In every scenario this paddling suit has made my time on the water safer and definitely more comfortable! The anglers I fish with are always jealous of how warm and confident I am to stay out there in the most miserable conditions and they’re especially jealous when they see that the suit has a “relief zipper!”

To be able to go out no matter what the conditions, knowing that if the worst happens and I fall in the frigid water that I’ll be OK, now that is priceless. There are some things in fishing that you just can’t skimp on, like your paddle, fishing reel and a good PFD; if you’re ever fishing in cold water or weather I would definitely add a paddling suit to that list. The great thing about being warm and comfortable while fishing in the cooler months, is that you can take advantage of being able to catch fish that are much less pressured than in the spring and summer. Plus, many cold water species make their “runs” and are more aggressive during these months!

Check out the latest episode below to see how we faired at catching some wild mountain trout!
