Miles fell in love with rivers when he was just 2 years old; this is when he started sitting on his dad’s lap in his kayak, paddling around the Salida Whitewater Park on the Arkansas River. At age 4 Miles started to paddle his own kayak, and by the time he was 10 years old he started surfing a stand up board on a little wave in the Salida Park every day. Miles absolutely fell in love with paddling that summer.
His dad’s business partner, Badfish shaper Zack Hughes, has made Miles custom boards since he was 11 and Miles says, “This has really helped me progress and invent new river surfing tricks.”
Miles loves all sorts of paddling, but surfing in the river and ocean is his passion. He is the two-time Colorado River Surfing champion, but also loves racing on a paddleboard and in his kayak. Miles won his first boater cross race this summer and looks forward to doing more races in his kayak.
Miles has a magnetic personality, he’s always smiling, and can often be found shredding a river wave on his SUP and showing the “old guys” how it’s done. Miles has a bright future ahead and Kokatat is stoked to be a part of his journey.
