“The creeks are noisy, great rivers flow in silence” – Chinese proverb

Quim “Kimet” Fontané started kayaking in the Salt-Ter kayak club, where they paddled on a tiny river that only had water 3 months per year. He has been paddling for as long as he can remember, more than 10 years, and began to take it seriously when he was 12 years old. His passion for kayaking drove him to become the European Champion and World Championships finalist in Freestyle Kayaking.

On the international stage he started at the bottom, staying focused and driven to become one of the top freestyle kayakers in the world. He has been crowned European Champion twice, World Champion Finalist, Vice World Champion as a Junior and Vice European Champion. “I have had the opportunity to travel and paddle in freestyle competitions and extreme races in many countries around the world,” says Quim. “I plan to keep traveling and to grow, not just as a paddler but also as a human being.” Quim believes you should live your life with joy, doing the things you love the most. He feels as kayakers we are lucky enough to have found one of those truly special things that make life feel brighter and easier. “Life is a river with all sorts of sections; it has great difficulties, narrow deep gorges and some flatwater. The levels change just as much as your mindset and mood does. The single most important thing is that it’s waters never stop to flow down from it’s source to the sea, so you’d better choose the best line possible and have a good ride down before the river vanishes in the sea and the water cycle starts again.”
