“The best thing to give your enemy is forgiveness, to an opponent tolerance, to a friend, your heart, to your child a good example, to a father deference, to your mother conduct that will make her proud of you, to yourself, respect. – Francis Balfour.”

Norm has raced stand up paddleboards throughout Canada and the United States. His most memorable race was competing in the 2013 Molokai2Oahu Paddleboard championships and being the first solo Canadian to cross the finish line. Based in Squamish, BC, Norm started an expedition company that offers remote SUP expeditions to world class destinations, paddle surf courses and SUP instruction and training. Norm is a Paddle Canada surf, coastal and river instructor trainer.

“Packing up my Toyota Tacoma in 1999 and getting on my own life path was the true start of great things for me. My adoption into the Raven Clan of the Gitga’at people let me know I was on the right track and it came with a big responsibility. This prompted me to do the Standup4Greatbear expedition to help bring awareness to the threats to our coastlines of the Great Bear Rainforest.”

Norm’s goal is to be the best dad for his son Kiel, to continue to explore Canada on his stand up paddleboard and to spend more time in the waves surfing.
